Chi no Kata is a form that is also done in some other styles of karate. It is called Fukyugata Ni in Matsubayashi Shorin-ryu schools and Gekisai Dai Ichi in Goju-ryu schools. It is a beginner-level form and incorporates a large variety of techniques that students can use for practice and self-defense. The “shape” of the kata (embusen) is a basic “T” and is easy for beginner students to learn. Here it is performed slowly so that you can follow along.
