At My Karate Tutor, you can learn the great art of Karate (and more!) while at home or on the road. This is designed so that you can engage in several lessons and improve at your own pace! New material is added regularly at all levels!

We have been teaching Karate (and more!) for forty years….that is a lot of experience coming your way to ensure that you get the highest quality martial arts training. Our students have traveled great distances over the years to absorb our teachings and, now, it is coming straight to your computer and phone!

The style of Karate that is used on this website is Shito-Ryu which concerns mostly the basic techniques (kihon) and forms (kata). At times, we will show techniques from other styles of karate. When that happens, we will tell you what style it is and the difference between our two schools. Sparring (kumite) is also shown and there are usually no stylistic differences with sparring.

This site contains not only Karate but also several different areas that a student can learn. These are presented as different systems or methods to augment your Karate training or as an introduction to something completely different that you might enjoy.

Many items on this site are performed and explained for people who have learning issues. When a student begins to train, he or she needs to do it slow, relaxed, and precise. Then they can begin to increase their speed and eventually power.

  • Kobudo – The Okinawan art of classical weapons that are a complement to the art of Karate.
  • Grappling – A fun way to learn how to control someone through grabbing and holding. It develops necessary skills for advanced fighting.
  • Samurai Arts – These are the combat arts of the ancient Samurai warrior for combat on and off the battlefield. They include unarmed fighting and over a dozen different weapons. This training also involves mental conditioning needed for a fight. The arts of the Samurai are completely different from Karate and Kobudo. They are presented here as an extra benefit and unique opportunity. Many people train only in the Samurai arts.
  • Workouts – These are both exercise and technical practice sessions that you can use individually or combine to help you get lean and fit.
